Optimise Upselling with Suggestions and a Change Deadline

MICE Operations’ interactive quotes include powerful features that help you optimise your offering and enhance the client experience. Two key tools that play an essential role in this are "Show suggestions" (for upselling) and the "Deadline for changes" setting. Understanding how these features work together is crucial for effective quote management.

1. Show Suggestions (Upselling)

The "Show suggestions" option allows you to display additional products or services as recommended add-ons in your quote. This is a highly effective upselling strategy, making it easy for clients to select extras that are relevant to their event.

How it works:
By enabling the "Show suggestions" setting, any products or services marked as suggestions within the event will be displayed in the schedule block of the interactive quote. Clients can review these options and choose to add them to their booking directly from the quote.

✅ How to enable suggestions in the quote schedule:

  1. Go to Setup (from the main menu on the left).

  2. Navigate to Templates in the admin menu.

  3. Select an Interactive Quote template. (If you don’t have one yet, create a new interactive template first.)

  4. In the template, go to the Schedule block.

  5. Click the schedule block to open the settings on the right-hand side.

  6. Enable Show suggestions in the block settings.

Once this setting is active, clients will be able to select suggestions directly from the schedule — but only up until the set deadline for changes.

2. Deadline for Changes

The "Deadline for changes" setting defines how many days before the event the client can still make changes to the interactive quote.

Currently, clients can:

  • Select suggestions from the schedule

  • Add comments to schedule items

How it works:
As long as the change deadline has not passed, clients can continue to make changes and submit suggestions via the quote. Once the deadline is reached, suggestions will no longer be visible and the quote becomes read-only for the client.

🛠 Setting the Deadline:

The deadline is set to 7 days before the event by default, but you can adjust this to fit your workflow.

To configure it:

  • Go to Setup > Company Details > General Settings > Events > Deadline for changes.

  • Don't forget to save!

💡 Best Practices for Effective Use:

Use suggestions strategically:
Apply the Show suggestions feature to offer additional value and increase revenue. Choose relevant add-ons that are tailored to each event.

Communicate clearly with your clients:
Always inform your clients about the change deadline. This helps manage expectations and encourages timely decisions.

For example, include a note in your quote (message) stating:
"Suggestions can be submitted until 7 days before the event."

Set an optimal deadline:
A deadline that’s too short may limit upselling opportunities. A deadline that’s too long may create uncertainty in your planning. Find a balanced setting that works with your team’s workflow and the types of events you manage.
